Surya Kumar Lama founded Everest Coffee Mill in 2013 after over 15 years working in the Nepalese coffee industry. With 33 years of total experience spanning cultivation, processing, roasting, and export, he is one of the most knowledgeable figures in the country's coffee sector.

He built the company from a small roasting operation in Lazimpat, Kathmandu into one of Nepal's leading coffee businesses, known for consistent quality and a genuine commitment to the farmers who supply them.

Outside of coffee, Surya has a deep love for music.

Surya Kumar Lama is the founder and Managing Director of Everest Coffee Mill Pvt. Ltd., a Kathmandu-based specialty coffee company established in 2013. With 33 years of experience across every stage of coffee (from cultivation to export) he is one of Nepal's most knowledgeable figures in the specialty coffee sector.

Surya has 33 years of experience in the Nepalese coffee industry. He has been trained and worked across coffee cultivation, post-harvest processing, roasting, quality control, and international export. He founded Everest Coffee Mill in 2013 after more than 15 years working in the wider coffee business.

Surya specialises in Nepalese specialty coffee: specifically single-origin production, roasting and international export from Nepal's Himalayan farms. His areas of expertise include coffee processing and post-harvest handling, roasting techniques and flavour profiling, quality control and cupping, and export regulations and international trade.
